Want the best hotel deal in Vegas? You won’t find it by calling the Bellagio. You won’t find it by calling Wynn. And you won’t find it by calling Bally’s, the Stratosphere, Hard Rock Café, Trump Las Vegas or any other hotel in the city. So where do you get the best rates? Call me, Slick Bargain Billy, right now at 1-800-666-6666, and I’ll get you booked at the hotel of your choice at a special unadvertised SHOT Show rate available only through me. Call NOW!
A “special unadvertised” rate for SHOT Week? Better than the hotel itself says it can offer? Who wouldn’t hop on the phone?
Anyone who’s ever flown to Las Vegas, arrived at a hotel registration desk and heard, “I’m sorry Mr. Smith, we don’t have any record of a reservation in your name. Did you book directly with the hotel or through onPeak?…. No, I’m sorry, that’s not one of our confirmation numbers … .”
Hotel scammers are legion in Las Vegas, and dozens of attendees to SHOT Show fall victim to them every year. We get it. Everyone has a budget. Everyone’s looking for a deal. But the prospect of saving $50 a night that ends up being the loss of your “first night’s deposit” to a 1-800 number that’s no longer in service — and fully booked hotels across the city that now make necessary a rental car because the closest hotel with a vacancy you could find is far outside the Strip — is not the way to kick off SHOT Week.
NSSF, ConvExx and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority go to great lengths to make sure we have blocks of rooms in dozens of hotels across the city for which we have secured the best prices. These rooms are available at hotels with prices to suit every budget level, from under $100 a night at Linq, Paris Las Vegas and the Flamingo, among others, to rooms in the $300-a-night range for SHOT’s headquarter hotel, the Venetian/Palazzo (right now, some rooms at the headquarter hotels are at $279).
I’m going to emphasize a few things about NSSF’s SHOT Show best rates. First, when you book through our online partner onPeak, we back your rate at the time of booking with a Best Rate Pledge and reservation protection. Second, there are no booking fees, and no cancellation fees generally up until the day your reservation begins, just like any other legitimate hotel booking. (A cancellation fee, by the way, is another way the scammers get you — “Cancel your reservation after 48 hours and your credit card will automatically be charged a $50 fee” is often in the fine print of your email “reservation confirmation.” There are no fees for changing reservations made through onPeak, and your reservation rates are made in real time (i.e., you won’t get to the “Book Now” button to find your rate has suddenly gone up $25 from when you started).
We encourage everyone planning to attend the 2019 SHOT Show to book their rooms through onPeak. We also encourage you to make your reservations sooner rather than later. As it has been in years past, ours is not the only trade show taking place the week of January 20, so hotels everywhere will be at capacity. That also means that as the calendar gets closer to the show, room rates will rise, including those in our reserved blocks, so it’s to your advantage — especially when you don’t need to worry about cancellation fees — to make your room arrangements now.
